It has been ridiculously HOT in TX, no surprise it’s freaking TX. But I can only drink so much water and,to be honest, I can only drink so many non-alcoholic drinks on the weekend!
So, when Philip and I went to our local farmers market and swilled some Hibiscus Lemonade;it immediately got my bartender juices flowing. I thought man add some alcohol and this could be the perfect summer cocktail; I also tweaked the tea too to give the flavor a little more dimension. With a few hours of brewing and a couple trips to the liquor store,here’s what I came up with. Enjoy!!
Ingredients & More:
1 Bottle Rasberry Stoli(or your favorite berry vodka)
1 Ultra Seal 1 Gallon Pitcher (go big or go home in our house)
1 1/2 cups Wholesome Sweeteners, Organic Sugar, Cane, 2 lb (you will be making a simple syrup with this)
3 lemons juiced
1 lemon for garnish
Hibiscus flower optional (but it does make it look fancy)
Directions: Fill a pot with about 32oz of purified water(you want to use the good stuff). Bring to a boil, once at a steady boil drop in your 7 tea bags, remove from heat and let steep for 30 minutes. Whole your tea bags are steeping it is now time to make your simple syrup. Take your 1 1/2 cups of sugar and add them to 2 cups of purified water. Bring to a simmer and allow the sugar to melt(do not over cook it will taste funky) remove the pot from the heat once it is melted and set aside) Juice your three lemons and set that aside too. Once the tea has steeped and is cool add your simple syrup and your lemon juice. Fill your gallon pitcher up with more purified water (not all the way to the top just below I have found works best).
Now, that your tea is done set in the refrigerator for about an hour to allow it to cool to the optimal consumption temperature. While you wait for the tea place two pint-sized glasses in your freezer to chill.
Here comes the best PART fill you pint-sized glass 1/2 way with ice add 1 1/4oz of your favorite berry flavored vodka( or do like Philip & I add as much as you like) fill the rest of the glass with Hibiscus Berry Tea, garnish with lemon slice and tell the heat to F-Off:)
