Recently I posted  The Dirty Dozen Fruits & Vegetables You Should ONLY Buy Organic. This week I want to share fifteen fruits and vegetables that are safer to buy conventional.  I still highly recommend whenever possible to buy fruits and vegetables from an organically grown source.

 

If you are looking specifically to avoid pesticide residue, there are several conventionally-grown fruits and vegetables that have very low to no residues. In general, you are going to be safer from pesticide residue by purchasing non-organic versions of the following 15 fruits and vegetables:

Introducing the clean 15

  • Onions
  • Corn
  • Kiwi
  • Papaya
  • Eggplant
  • Honeydew Melon
  • Grapefruit
  • Cantaloupe
  • Avocado
  • Pineapple
  • Bananas
  • Watermelon
  • Mango
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower

A small amount of sweet corn and papaya sold in the United States is produced from genetically modified seeds. So if you’re looking to avoid GMO’s buy the organic varieties of these two crops.
