Meatless meals are all the rage but creating a meatless meal that doesn’t taste like a cardboard box can be tough.  We have tried several types of veggie burgers and even made a few from scratch, but all missed the flavor mark big time.  I decided to bring in Dr. Praeger the physician of veggie burgers; this burger hits on all marks; flavor, texture, right about heat and the perfect blend of vegetables.  Of course, this family takes everything to the next level of flavor and this burger was one of our favorite creations. If you’re on the fence about trying a meatless burger this recipe will knock you right off the fence!

 

Ingredients:

1 box of Dr. Praeger Tex Mex Burgers

1 loaf of crusty french bread


4 cups of fresh spinach

1 julienned yellow pepper

1 8oz fresh mushrooms

2 tablespoons olive oil

 

Directions:

Grab a large pan, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the pan is hot throw in all your fresh veggies. Saute vegetables to desired texture; (I prefer them not mushy) Once the veggies are cooked to your liking now it’s time to cook your Dr. Praeger burger follow the directions on the box.  Now, it’s time to assemble your meatless tower of wonder. I like to toast my bread but it is up to you. Place your burger(2 of course) on your sliced french bread then put on your mushrooms, then your peppers and lastly your fresh sauteed spinach. for a little extra kick top your burger with favorite condiment; I prefer Thai Chili Sauce!

  1. We’re not vegetarian but we have 2-3 meatless days a week. It’s quite challenging to come up with vegetable dishes that’s not just salads! We haven’t tried a veggie burger yet…this will definitely go into our to-do list.

  4. I love that this recipe is both super healthy as well as quick and easy. I’m trying to reduce the amount of meat in my diet, so this “burger” is definitely going to be making it into my weekly menu plan.
